Stocksfield Golf Club

Supporting Prostate Cancer UK

Stocksfield Golf Club started life as a 9 hole course in 1913, with just 100 members, and moved to it's present site in 1949. The course was extended to 18 holes in 1975. Golf at Stocksfield is truly a game of two halves, with fairways carved through stands of native British Oaks, Birch, Beech and Ash. The first nine require careful driving and club selection, but good shots are rewarded with great scores. The second half (the original parkland course) is more open and forgiving, but there's still plenty of danger lurking for the unwary golfer! The course boasts stunning views across the beautiful Tyne Valley and north to the Cheviots and the Borders. After your round, have a welcome drink and a good meal, and sit and watch the sun go down on the glorious decked patio! The clubhouse at Stocksfield Golf Club has a genuinely friendly, informal and welcoming atmosphere. A well-stocked bar and adjoining dining area with superb food will complete your golfing experience. Whilst Stocksfield is a small club, with not the longest of courses (5,991 yards off the White Tees), it's no push-over! Witness the fact that it's been the home club to several local professionals, now holding posts in the Region's premiere clubs: and Chris Paisley, winner of the 2018 South African Open and 34th in the Dubai World Tour Championship!

Course Reviews

Nice Golf Course
I have played this course many times over the years and it is a good test of golf. It is definitely a course of 2 halves as the first 9 is tree lined and although not long holes they will have you thinking your way around in order to score well. The back 9 opens out more with views over the surrounding hillside and very pleasant indeed but do not be fooled they may look easier than the front but will keep your attention on each and every one. It is a course that if you score well on the first 8 tree lined holes it will set you up for a good score overall.

Pleasant and Varied
I've played Stocksfield twice as part of a visiting group organised by my home club. Each time I've been impressed by the organisation and the welcome and, especially, the standard of the catering provided for our large group. The course has its challenges, with plenty of variety on the fairways (when I can manage to stay on them!) and some interesting greens.
Visiting late in the season on each occasion I was delighted to find the course in very, very good condition, a tribute to the hard work of the greenkeeper and ground staff.
