Playing on the golf course made famous by Dan Walker and Helen Skelton in their 'Pennine Adventure' Channel 5 TV programme, 50 golfers, mainly club members, turned out to raise money for the charity. Unlike Dan nobody managed to get a two on the 17th, the highest hole in England, but between them managed to raise the grand total of:

£4402.04

This brings the overall total raised to over

£16600

'What a tremendous achievement by a small golf club to raise such a large amount for Prostate Cancer UK. Grateful thanks to all who donated money or golf and raffle prizes, and not forgetting the ladies for the all day buffet and the greens staff for presenting the course in such excellent condition,' Michael Liverick, a long time club stalwart

The highest golf course in England (1476 feet asl) Alston Moor offers a challenging 18 holes of golf, over its 10 greens and 18 tee positions (mens and ladies). The club, is situated 2 miles south of Alston in 132 acres of parkland, high meadow and pasture land. 15 miles south of Hadrian's Wall, within the AONB, it offers spectacular views of the North Pennines. With its small but friendly membership, the course is ideal for golfers, of all ability, who enjoy playing the game, at their own pace, in stunning surroundings
