On a very warm and sultry Thursday, 7th September 2023, at Shipley Golf Club near Bradford, for the fifth time of asking Paul Nash and Gilbert Scott of Stocksfield Golf Club took part in and won the Prostate Cancer UK Northern Region Championship. This invitational event, one of three held across the country, enables the charity to say thank you to golf clubs and members who help to raise money to support vital research into the diagnosis and treatment of the disease. This year they hope to raise over £2 million. The tournament consists of 18 teams of 4, each starting on a separate hole with the best 2 scores on each hole counting towards the final total. Paul and Gilbert were paired with Derek and Ian from Uphall Golf Club, West Lothian and together they managed an amazing 100 stableford points on a long and demanding course, 7 points ahead of the nearest rival. The prizes for each of them were a smart glass trophy and an expensive range finder.
